Scout Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Scout collects, why it is used, when it is shared, how long it is kept, and the choices available to you when you use the Scout iPhone app and related services.
Last updated August 11, 20261. Scope and operator
Scout is operated by Minuteman Apps LLC (“Scout,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy applies to the Scout mobile app, this Scout website, and the related services used to provide account linking, sync, reward optimization, notifications, support, and supported award-flight search.
This policy does not replace the privacy policies of third parties such as your financial institution, Plaid, Apple, an authentication provider, an airline, or a loyalty program. Those organizations control their own products, websites, and records.
2. Information we collect
Account, profile, and support information
- Email address, sign-in identifiers, account or device identifiers, settings, preferences, and information you send in support communications.
- Authentication and session information needed to keep you signed in, protect your account, sync eligible data, and restore access.
Linked financial-account information
- If you choose to link an account, Scout may receive account metadata, institution details, balances, transactions, liabilities, connection status, and sync metadata from an account-linking provider such as Plaid.
- Scout does not receive or store the bank username and password you enter in a provider-hosted linking flow.
Cards, rewards, and optimization information
- Card profiles, reward rates and balances, annual-fee information, perk and credit usage, card selections, overrides, merchant or category matches, and related wallet-optimization settings.
- Spending and balance insights derived from information you enter or accounts you choose to link.
Award-travel search information
- Origin and destination airports, travel dates, cabin preference, passenger count, ranking and flexible-date settings, and optional home-airport preference.
- Optional saved loyalty balances or wallet information used to rank or explain award options.
- Request identifiers, app version, client platform, search status, result freshness, timing, warnings, and technical diagnostics used to operate and troubleshoot live search.
- Recent searches, home-airport preference, ranking preference, and saved wallet balances may be stored locally on your device to restore your search context.
Device, diagnostics, permissions, and purchase status
- App and operating-system version, device model, crash or performance information, feature interactions, and reliability telemetry.
- Approximate or precise location only if you grant permission for nearby-merchant or location-aware features.
- Notification settings and tokens when you enable notifications.
- Subscription and purchase status needed to unlock features, restore purchases, and maintain entitlement state. Apple processes App Store payment details.
3. How we collect information
We collect information when you enter it, choose a setting, contact support, run a search, use an app feature, grant a device permission, make or restore an App Store purchase, or connect a third-party account.
We also receive information from service providers acting on your request or on our behalf, such as account-linking, authentication, cloud infrastructure, notification, purchase, and search-execution providers. Technical and operational records may be generated automatically when the app or backend handles a request.
4. How we use information
- Provide card guidance, wallet organization, perk tracking, reminders, spending insights, balance and utilization views, merchant matching, and related app features.
- Connect and refresh accounts you choose to link.
- Run supported award-flight searches, rank results against your saved preferences or loyalty balances, and explain freshness, confidence, and booking guidance.
- Authenticate users, maintain sessions, sync or restore eligible information, and manage devices.
- Process subscription status and restore purchases.
- Deliver notifications you enable.
- Secure, maintain, debug, analyze, and improve Scout; prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and service disruption.
- Respond to support and privacy requests, provide service notices, enforce applicable terms, and comply with law.
6. Award-search processing
Scout currently supports a limited, verified set of award-search paths. Search availability, coverage, and provider behavior can change, and results should be confirmed with the airline or loyalty program before you act.
When you run a supported search, Scout’s backend may send the route, date, cabin, passenger, and flexibility parameters necessary to query airline or loyalty-program web surfaces. The iPhone app does not sign you into those sites as part of a normal search.
Operational records may include a request ID, scope decision, provider status, timing, freshness, and warning or error information. These records help operate the feature, detect abuse, and distinguish a genuine “no availability” result from a provider or service error.
7. Sale, advertising, and tracking
- Scout does not sell personal information for monetary consideration.
- Scout does not use award-search inputs for third-party advertising or cross-app advertising tracking.
- If a version of Scout displays third-party advertising, an advertising or measurement provider may process limited technical or contextual information as permitted by platform rules and disclosed in the app. Scout will update its disclosures before materially changing those practices.
8. Retention and deletion
- Local preferences, wallet information, and recent searches remain on your device until you change or clear them, reset app data where that control is available, or remove the app.
- Account, linked-account, card, reward, and sync information is generally kept while needed to provide an active account or connection. After disconnection or deletion, limited records may remain for backups, security, fraud prevention, audit, dispute resolution, legal compliance, and service recovery.
- Search and operational records are kept only as long as reasonably needed for reliability, abuse prevention, security, launch diagnostics, audit, and legal obligations. When no longer needed, information is deleted, de-identified, or aggregated where feasible.
- Subscription and transaction identifiers may be retained as needed for entitlement restoration, billing reconciliation, fraud prevention, and legal compliance. Apple controls its own billing records.
You may request deletion by contacting us below. We may verify your identity before fulfilling a request. Deleting the app does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription or delete cloud records associated with an account.
9. Security
Scout uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. Sensitive tokens and identifiers may be stored in the iOS Keychain, and connected network features use encrypted transport such as HTTPS. Access to backend systems is limited according to operational need.
No transmission or storage method is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your device, passcode, Apple account, sign-in methods, and any biometric protection you enable.
10. Your choices and privacy rights
- Use manual or sample information without linking a financial account where that option is available.
- Disconnect linked accounts, sign out, clear eligible local data, or manage sync and device access through Scout settings where available.
- Change location, notification, and other permissions through iOS Settings.
- Change or clear saved travel preferences, home airport, loyalty balances, and recent-search context in the app where controls are provided.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple account.
- Request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of certain information by emailing the contact below.
Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional rights, including rights to know, access, correct, delete, obtain a portable copy, opt out of certain processing, appeal a denied request, or use an authorized agent. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. We may request information needed to verify your identity or an agent’s authority.
11. Children’s privacy
Scout is intended for users age 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided information through Scout, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
12. International processing
If you use Scout outside the United States, information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. Those locations may have data-protection rules that differ from the rules where you live.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Scout, its providers, or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date identifies the current published revision. If a change is material, we may provide notice in the app, on this page, or through another appropriate channel.
