Sprout is operated by \(LegalContactInfo.operatorName). This policy explains how Sprout collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the iOS app, connect financial accounts, enable optional cloud features, or interact with related backend services. It is intended to describe the app as shipped today and may be updated as features change.
Privacy Policy
Operator and Scope
- Sprout is operated by \(LegalContactInfo.operatorName).
- This policy applies to the Sprout iOS app, optional sign-in, sync, subscription, account-linking, receipt, widget, and notification features, and related backend services used to provide those features.
- It does not apply to third-party products or services, such as financial institutions, Plaid, Apple, Google, or other providers that process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Key Points
- You can use Sprout with local data or sample data without creating an account.
- Bank connections, cloud sync, sign-in, receipt scanning, notifications, and biometric protection are optional features you choose to enable.
- Sprout is not an advertising product. It does not sell personal information, does not use your financial data for targeted advertising, and does not track you across other apps or websites for ad purposes.
- If you do not enable cloud or account-linking features, much of your information stays only on your device.
Information We Collect
- Financial data you choose to connect or enter, including account names, institution names, balances, transactions, liabilities, budgets, goals, categories, recurring charges, manual assets, and related history.
- Investment-related data you choose to add or enable, including investment account balances, manual holdings, crypto wallet balances, and, for Sprout Pro+, holdings data returned through Plaid where available.
- Account and sync data if you sign in, such as a user ID, email address, sign-in provider metadata, linked-device identifiers, household-sharing metadata, and sync state.
- Receipt information you import or scan, including receipt images, extracted text, merchant names, totals, dates, notes, and links to transactions.
- Settings and security preferences, including currency, notification preferences, subscription entitlement state, app lock settings, and biometric protection preferences.
- Technical identifiers and tokens stored in app storage or the iOS Keychain so the app can maintain sessions, secure credentials, restore linked connections, and protect access to your data.
How We Use Information
- To provide app features such as dashboards, transaction history, budgets, goals, recurring charge tracking, receipt matching, net worth calculations, and investment summaries.
- To connect accounts through Plaid and retrieve the data needed for features you enable, such as balances, transactions, liabilities, and, where applicable, Plaid investment holdings.
- To authenticate you, keep you signed in, sync or restore data across devices, manage shared-household features, and apply premium entitlements or support overrides.
- To generate local reminders, summaries, and alerts if you grant notification permissions.
- To protect the app, reduce fraud or abuse, secure sessions, support biometric authentication, diagnose crashes or sync issues, and maintain service reliability.
How Information Is Shared
- If you connect a bank account, Plaid provides the account-link flow and processes account connection data under Plaid's own terms and privacy policy. Sprout receives the account data returned by Plaid for the features you use.
- If you sign in or enable sync, Supabase is used for authentication, sync, and backend data storage needed to provide those features.
- If you use Sign in with Apple or Google, those providers process authentication data under their own policies.
- Receipt text recognition is performed on device using Apple frameworks by default rather than a separate hosted OCR service.
- Information may be disclosed if required by law, legal process, or a good-faith belief that disclosure is necessary to protect users, the app, or connected systems.
- Sprout does not sell or rent your information to advertisers, data brokers, or unrelated third parties.
Permissions
- Camera and photo library access are used only if you choose to scan or import receipt images.
- Face ID or Touch ID is used only if you enable biometric protection or biometric re-authentication.
- Notifications are used only if you grant permission so the app can deliver local reminders, summaries, and alerts.
Storage and Security
- Sprout stores app data locally on your device and uses the iOS Keychain for sensitive tokens, credentials, and identifiers.
- Network requests for connected features are transmitted over HTTPS.
- If you enable sync or connected features, relevant account, sync, or entitlement data may also be stored in backend systems used to provide those features.
- Security features are designed to reduce exposure of sensitive data, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your Choices and Controls
- You can use local or sample data without signing in.
- You can disconnect linked banks, remove cloud-linked data, clear local data, or sign out from the app settings where those options are available.
- If you are signed in, app controls may also remove synced copies of certain data from Sprout-managed backend storage.
- You can disable notifications, receipt access, camera or photo access, and biometric features through iOS settings or inside the app where available.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or information about personal data processed by the app. Requests may be sent using the contact information below.
Data Retention
- Data is generally kept until you delete it, disconnect an account, clear local app data, or remove synced content.
- Security, device, and recovery identifiers may be retained as long as reasonably necessary to maintain sign-in, protect accounts, restore linked connections, or comply with legal obligations.
- If you remove data locally but also use cloud sync, cloud copies may remain until they are also deleted through the app's sync or deletion controls.
- Operational logs and diagnostic records may be retained for a limited period to maintain reliability, investigate bugs, and protect the service.
Children's Privacy
- Sprout is not intended for children under 13.
- If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, use the app's listed support or contact channel to request review and deletion.

- Sprout is not responsible for third-party service outages, policy changes, or actions outside Sprout's control.

- Apple is not responsible for providing the app's services, support, maintenance, or warranty except as required under applicable law.
- Your device manufacturer, carrier, or platform provider may impose additional restrictions or fees outside Sprout's control.
