Privacy Policy Terms of Service Support

Sprout Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Sprout iOS app handles information when you use local features, connect financial accounts, scan receipts, subscribe to premium features, or sign in for cloud sync. Sprout is operated by Minuteman Apps LLC, and this policy applies to the app and the services used to provide app functionality.

Key Points

  • You can use Sprout with local or sample data without creating an account.
  • Bank connections, cloud sync, notifications, receipt scanning, and biometric protection are optional features you choose to enable.
  • Sprout does not sell your personal data, does not use your data for advertising, and does not track you across other apps or websites for third-party advertising purposes.

Information We Collect

  • Financial information you choose to connect or enter, including account names, balances, transactions, holdings, liabilities, budgets, goals, categories, and related history.
  • Account and sync information, including a user ID, sign-in provider details, and your email address if you choose an email-based or provider-based sign-in flow.
  • Subscription and purchase status needed to unlock premium features, restore purchases, and manage entitlement state.
  • Receipt information, including receipt images, extracted text, merchant names, totals, dates, notes, and links to transactions.
  • App settings and security preferences, such as notification preferences, currency settings, session settings, and biometric lock preferences.
  • Technical and recovery identifiers stored in the iOS Keychain or app storage so the app can maintain sessions, secure tokens, and help restore linked connections.

How We Use Information

  • To provide app features such as dashboards, transactions, budgets, investments, goals, recurring charges, receipts, and summaries.
  • To connect financial accounts through Plaid and import the account and transaction data needed for those features.
  • To authenticate you, keep you signed in, and sync or restore your data across devices when you choose cloud features.
  • To manage premium access, restore purchases, and enforce feature availability tied to your subscription state.
  • To generate local reminders, summaries, and budget alerts if you enable notifications.
  • To protect your data, maintain sessions, and support Face ID, Touch ID, or other device-based authentication when enabled.

Sharing and Third-Party Services

  • If you connect a bank account, Plaid provides the bank-link flow and returns account and transaction data to Sprout. Plaid may process information under Plaid’s own terms and privacy policy.
  • If you sign in for cloud features, Supabase is used for authentication, sync, and backend storage needed to support those features.
  • If you choose Sign in with Apple or Google, those providers may process authentication data under their own policies.
  • If you purchase premium features through Apple, Apple processes billing and subscription transactions under Apple’s own terms and privacy practices.
  • Receipt text recognition is performed on device using Apple system frameworks rather than a separate third-party OCR service by default.
  • Sprout does not sell or rent your information to advertisers, data brokers, or other unrelated third parties.

Permissions

  • Camera and photo library access are used only if you choose to scan or import receipt images.
  • Face ID or Touch ID is used only if you enable biometric protection or biometric re-authentication.
  • Notifications are used only if you grant permission so the app can deliver local reminders, summaries, and alerts.

Storage and Security

  • Sprout stores app data locally on your device and uses the iOS Keychain for sensitive tokens, credentials, and identifiers.
  • Network requests for connected features are transmitted over HTTPS.
  • Some connected or synced data may also be stored in backend systems used to provide cloud functionality you enable.
  • No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but Sprout is designed to reduce exposure and protect sensitive information.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, passcode, Apple account, and any biometric protections you enable.

Your Choices and Controls

  • You can use local or sample data without signing in.
  • You can disconnect linked banks, clear local data, sign out, or manage premium purchases from the app settings.
  • If you are signed in, app controls may also remove synced bank data from cloud storage used by the app, and account deletion may be requested through the app.
  • You can disable notifications, receipt access, or biometric features through iOS settings or inside the app where available.
  • App Store subscriptions are managed through Apple and may need to be canceled separately through your Apple account settings.

Data Retention

  • Data is generally kept until you delete it, disconnect an account, clear local app data, or remove synced content.
  • Some identifiers and recovery information may be retained as long as needed to maintain sign-in, security, or restore linked connections you expect to keep.
  • If you remove data locally but also use cloud sync, cloud copies may remain until they are also deleted through the app’s sync and deletion controls.
  • Subscription records and related transaction identifiers may be retained as needed for billing reconciliation, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or restore-purchase functionality.

Children’s Privacy

  • Sprout is not intended for children under 13.
  • If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, use the app’s listed support or contact channel to request review and deletion.

State Privacy Rights

  • Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, deletion of, or correction of certain personal information held for app services.
  • Where those rights apply, Minuteman Apps LLC will review requests submitted through the app’s account controls or official support channels and respond as required by applicable law.
  • Because some information is processed by service providers such as Plaid, Apple, or sign-in providers, some requests may need to be completed directly with those providers for records they control.

Use of the App

  • You may use Sprout only in compliance with applicable law.
  • You are responsible for the information you choose to enter, import, categorize, sync, or connect through the app.
  • You may not misuse the app, attempt unauthorized access, reverse engineer restricted functionality, interfere with the service, or use the app in a way that could harm other users or connected systems.

Financial Information Disclaimer

  • Sprout is a personal finance organization tool and is provided for informational purposes only.
  • Sprout does not provide legal, tax, accounting, investment, or financial planning advice.
  • You are responsible for verifying balances, transactions, classifications, budgets, and decisions you make based on information shown in the app.

Subscriptions and Billing

  • Some features may require a paid subscription or other in-app purchase.
  • If you purchase a subscription through Apple, billing, renewal, cancellation, refund handling, and payment processing are managed by Apple under your App Store account and Apple’s terms.
  • Unless you cancel through Apple before renewal, subscriptions may renew automatically according to the plan you selected.

Accounts, Sync, and Security

  • Some features require optional sign-in, cloud sync, or linked financial accounts.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, your sign-in credentials, and any biometric protections you enable.
  • If you believe your account or device has been compromised, you should sign out, revoke access where appropriate, and disconnect linked services as needed.

Third-Party Services

  • Sprout may rely on third-party services such as Plaid for bank connections, Supabase for authentication and sync, Apple for App Store billing and Sign in with Apple, and Google for sign-in.
  • Your use of those services may also be governed by their own terms, privacy policies, and operational requirements.
  • Sprout is not responsible for third-party service outages, policy changes, pricing changes, or actions outside Sprout’s control.

Your Data and Account Controls

  • You may disconnect linked accounts, clear local data, sign out, and, when signed in, request account deletion through controls made available in the app.
  • Removing the app from your device does not automatically cancel App Store subscriptions or remove cloud-stored data tied to an active account.
  • You are responsible for backing up or exporting any information you want to keep before deleting local data or your account.

Intellectual Property

  • Sprout, its design, branding, software, and related content are owned by Minuteman Apps LLC or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
  • These terms give you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app for its intended personal or internal household purposes.
  • You may not copy, resell, redistribute, or create derivative commercial versions of the app except as allowed by law or with written permission.

Availability and Changes

  • Features may change, be updated, or be discontinued over time.
  • Sprout may modify the app, these terms, pricing, or related features as the product evolves.
  • Continued use of the app after an updated version of these terms becomes available means you accept the revised terms.

  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, perfect accuracy, or error-free operation.
  • Bank data, sync behavior, calculations, categorizations, and third-party integrations may occasionally be delayed, unavailable, incomplete, or inaccurate.

Limitation of Liability

  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sprout and Minuteman Apps LLC are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app.
  • This includes losses related to data errors, missed alerts, interrupted sync, third-party outages, or financial decisions made using app information.
  • Nothing in these terms limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by applicable law.

Termination

  • You may stop using Sprout at any time.
  • You may also disconnect linked accounts, clear local data, cancel subscriptions through Apple, sign out, or delete your account using controls available in the app.
  • Sprout may restrict, suspend, or end access to app services where necessary to protect the app, users, connected systems, or to address misuse or legal requirements.

Changes to These Terms

  • These terms may be updated from time to time as Sprout changes.
